Appealing Post Expanded Delightfully

SF Appeal ran with my recent post about 2300 Third and did some lovely research with the Department of Building Inspections, including getting copies of their emails. Note to self: learn how to request those.

City Tickets City Over Abandoned 3rd Street Police Station

In emails obtained by The Appeal, John Updike, Real Estate’s acting director, objected to being slapped with a fine by another city department and asked for relief — that is, to not have to pay the fine. But DBI stood firm.

It’s my position that the SFPD owes the fee and fines. I asked Marta A. Bayol, District General Manager of the Real Estate Division of the City and County of San Francisco, if the Board of Supervisors had voted yet. “The jurisdictional transfer has not taken place. The San Francisco Police Department still manages this building,” she replied. She has not yet answered whether or not their jurisdiction includes this particular financial responsibility.
